Congratulations to Clayton Chu of Western Forest Products who won a vehicle safety kit with one year of roadside assistance in our trade show draw at the 10th annual Vancouver Island Safety Conference.
Clayton was one of over 350 delegates attending this free conference in Nanaimo on October 3rd. The conference explored how the forest industry has evolved over the last 10 years to create safer and healthier workplaces. Conference topics included driving safety, the hazards of distraction, effective supervision of young workers and the anatomy of a log truck roll over.
Whether it be on highways or on logging roads, driving safety is very important to Western Forest Products not only for its employees and contractors, but also for the public. In a recent initiative to improve road safety, Western Forest Products launched a website www.wfproadinfo.com. The site provides updates on popular travel routes within Western Forest Products’ operating areas. Journey planning is an essential step in preventing motor vehicle incidents. “Know before you go” is a critical part of that process – check weather reports and road conditions on http://www.drivebc.ca/.
